  • Housing Assistant, Housing Officer and Senior Housing  Officer/ Manager

    Programme Overview

    The Apprenticeship standards consist of formative and summative assessments. The formative assessment element of Housing apprenticeships includes:

    • A Chartered Institute of Housing Certificate in Housing at either level 2, 3, 4, or a Level 5 Diploma.
    • Functional skills.
    • Portfolio of work:  reflection on skills and behaviours
    • Case Study / Project work.
    • The Summative assessment is through End Pont Assessment

    The qualifications are available for all.

    Assistant (Level 2): Designed to take between 12 and 18 months to complete.

    Housing Officer (Level 3):  Designed to take between 18 months and 24 months to complete

    Senior Housing (Level 4):  Designed to take between 18 months and 24 months to complete

  • Property Management: Private Sector

    The Apprenticeship standards considered above are also designed to the needs of the private rented / leasehold sectors. Thus are suitable for apprentices and staff in these sectors including;  Lettings Negotiators, Leasehold Management Officers, and Property Manager s.

  • CIH Level 2 Housing Practice Certificate

    Course Overview

    The Level 2 Certificate in Housing has been designed to meet the learning needs of a wide range of people including:

    • Those people not currently working in housing but considering frontline housing positions as a career option.
    • Tenants wishing to explore housing issues to enhance their personal involvement and / or understanding of housing issues.
    • People who are new to housing and apprentices undertaking the Housing Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
    • Workers in a frontline housing position.
    • Workers in a sector closely related to housing who are seeking to improve their general awareness of housing issues.

    The Level 2 Certificate in Housing gives you the introductory skills, knowledge and understanding to work effectively within housing. Level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE (grades A-C) or an NVQ Level 2. The Level 2 Certificate can work as an ideal induction programme.

  • CIH Level 3 Housing Practice Certificate

    Course Overview

    The CIH Level 3 Certificate in Housing is a vocationally related qualification for the social housing sector, and is suitable for:

    • People working in housing.
    • Tenants wishing to get actively involved in the delivery of housing services.
    • Frontline workers who want to develop skills in housing.
    • People working in a specialist area of housing.
    • Apprentices and staff undertaking the Housing Officer Apprenticeship Standards

    The qualification aims to:

    Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.

    Provide learners with a detailed understanding of a specialist area of housing practice.

    Prepare learners for study at Level 4.

    Develop key skills and knowledge necessary to participate in housing practice.

    Learners can follow a range of Pathways including, Managing Housing Services, Managing Neighbourhoods, Supporting Homeless People (‘Engage to Change’ programme).

  • CIH Level 3 Supporting Homeless Persons Certificate (‘Engage to Change’)

    Course Overview

    • Designed specifically for frontline homelessness workers.
    • Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Housing as a Level 3 qualification.
    • A qualification produced following extensive consultation with a wide range of homelessness organisations
    • Delivered as a series of interactive workshops together with two sessions for individual and tutorial support.

    The qualification aims to:

    Develop key skills and knowledge necessary for frontline homelessness workers.

    Provide learners with a detailed understanding of a specialist area of housing practice.

    Prepare learners for study at Level 4.

    Place an emphasis on the personal difference the participants can make to supporting significant change with vulnerable people.

  • CIH Level 4 Certificate / Diploma in Housing Practice

    Course Overview

    The aim of these programme are to provide housing staff working at or aspiring to a supervisory or management level with a qualification to suit their needs. It also aims to prepare learners for further study and progression at undergraduate and in some cases post graduate level.

    The qualification can be studied as part of the Senior Housing (L4) Higher Apprenticeship.

    Learners can follow a range of Pathways including Managing Neighbourhoods, Support for Independent Living, Planning and Development

  • CIH L5 Diploma in Housing

    The objective of this qualification is to provide individuals with the knowledge and understanding across the key areas of housing practice at a recognised professional standard.  The qualification considers areas of ethics, leadership, strategic planning for housing and relationships. On completion of the programme of learning (including the L4 Professional Practice Unit) learners will achieve the full CIH chartered member status.

    The aims of the Diploma are as follows:

    • Provide the knowledge and skills required for a strategic housing management role.
    • Prepare learners for further study in housing related qualifications at level 6 / under graduate level.
    • Meet the expectations for CIH chartered membership on completion of the additional unit Professional Practice Skills for Housing.
